Choose a preset
Open the winch scene in Maya and choose Harbour Winch Handoff to load the checks for model delivery and review.
TOOLS DEVELOPMENT / PIPELINE & ASSET VALIDATION
QC CHECK runs inside Maya. Artists choose a validation preset, run it against the open scene, and see which items need attention before handing off an asset. Where a check supports a repair, they can apply it and verify the result in the same window.
An asset can look ready in the viewport while still missing information the next artist needs. Those gaps are easier to resolve with the scene open than after another department picks up the delivery. A repeatable review gives the artist and the receiving team a shared definition of what is ready.
QC CHECK turns those requirements into individual rules. A check evaluates one condition and can report the objects, files or scene locations involved. The banner identifies the host and the preset bar shows which review is active.
02 / THE ARTIST’S WORKFLOW
Run, inspect, repair and recheck
in the application where you work.
Open the winch scene in Maya and choose Harbour Winch Handoff to load the checks for model delivery and review.
Run a single row or choose Check All for the enabled set. Rows report pass, warning or error, and the progress area shows how far the run has reached.
Open Export Set Membership. The result identifies the housing and handle meshes, both present in the scene but missing from the delivery set.
Add both meshes to the winch export set in Maya and rerun the check. For the guide layer warning, use Fix to hide the guides, then confirm the updated result.
03 / HANDOFF CHECKS
SCENE STRUCTURE
SCENE PRESENTATION
A handoff preset groups the rules that matter at a particular stage. The same preset can be reused across assets so the review starts from a consistent set of requirements. Harbour Winch Handoff combines model delivery checks with review setup.
The Preset Editor shows available checks alongside the enabled set and lets artists choose a startup default. Bundled presets supply shared starting points, while presets saved from the editor live outside the package in a separate folder for each host.
05 / PIPELINE INTEGRATION
The shared scene_checker Python package detects the host and discovers its check modules. The framework handles the interface, presets, execution and reporting. Each check owns its rule and any supported repair, so new checks can use the same workflow.
Artists can review the scene, locate the affected objects, and address issues in Maya before the asset moves to the next department.
Repairs refresh their inputs before editing. For Fix All, the runner uses declared dependencies to order related work and invalidate results that an edit could change. An earlier result can be invalidated when a later repair changes the data it depends on.
The Maya Turntable Submit integration embeds the checker beside its own controls. Submission can use the results of the active checks to decide whether the artist can proceed.
Checks are discovered from host-specific folders, and publish locations and preset storage are configurable. Pipeline teams can add rules for their own handoffs within the same check, inspect and recheck workflow.
